Customer is a King. Is it true?

www.miftah17.wordpress.com

“Every customer is a king”. That’s what we often hear in our country when we talk about business. But in reality, is it true that you are always treated as a king as a customer? Do they always consider you important element in their business? Some good business organizations might have trained their customer service, sales people, and other people dealing with customers well, as a result they can deal with them well, and most customers are made satisfied with their personality, and, most importantly, their service. May be true, may be not very true.

There are a lot of example about dissatisfied customer. How much time does it take to be a phone cell postpaid customer? Few minutes. Then how much time and energy does it take to deal with the overcharged bills of a postpaid cell phone or other problem? Forever and unlimited. What do most companies’ customer service officers say to deal with your complains? They say, “We’ll do something with your problem and we’ll call you in few days time. After few days? They barely call you. After weeks? They seem to have got amnesia.

Actually there are still a lot more unsatisfying problem-dealing cases. But let’s stop here. I don’t think I have enough energy to write about the matter. I’m going to tell and show you something that you might want to know. I was in the mall. I wanted to have some pictures printed since I can’t do it myself at home. I was walking to a counter offering picture printing. Look I was getting close…

There was something stuck on the machine that draw my attention. Now I was getting even closer…

selamat-datang-pelanggan-bodoh2

A notice… yes it was a notice. the big letters were very clear. It said, “Stupid”. “Who is or are  stupid?’, I asked myself a question. Let me find out! And now I was there…

selamat-datang-pelanggan-bodoh3

It was very clear in front of my very eyes. It said (translation), “Don’t play with the machine! You can break it, STUPID!!!”.

What a beautiful welcome for coming customers it was. What will your reaction be at first place if you come to this kind of business place seeing the notice? Will you pretend not to see the notice and go on using their service because it doesn’t bother you at all? Or will your head get warmer and say something rather angrily to the shop assistant to do something with the notice? Or will you be too astonished to react and you turn to a statue for a few seconds? I don’t know, but are these business people happy to make money from these stupid customers? What did they have in their head? Should we change the proverb every customer is a king into every customer is stupid, stupid to use their service. Wallohu alam bissawab (No one knows but God).

Note: I found this “beautiful” display in Mall Cijantung Jakarta Timur. I hope they have done something with it and stopped telling people that they were, in fact, very undeniably stupid!

Hallo Telkom Indonesia

kamboja16

Take a look at the picture on the left. Don’t you think it is a common kind of sight in Jakarta? I’ve seen this scene since January 22, 2009 when I passed by this place. And today, January 27, 2009, there haven’t been considerable changes made. I appreciate the people in the neighborhood that have done something to reduce the risk of accident that may occur. As you can see in the picture, a door frame and some thin flanks hold the post. That’s the best they can do. But it is a shame that Telkom has done “zero” to it. How long do they need to know this and do something? Or do they wait for an accident to happen before they think of what step to do?

“Committed to you”. It seems that the motto is not an alien. We often hear it in TV and the radio, and see it at strategic places in small and big cities. Don’t mention at Telkom offices national wide. Does the slogan mean that we have to wait until we don’t know when to make sure that a potential cause of danger, which is caused by Telkom property, is swept away from our neighborhood? Maybe Telkom will reason, “Well, what can I say? We are human. We are not perfect”. Stop…stop…stop. We are very familiar with that apologetic expression that is not really our favorite one. By the way, if you haven’t been informed, I gladly tell you the location of the collapsed Telkom Post. It is located in Jalan Kamboja Kelurahan Cijantung Jakarta Timur. The rest is up to you, but it seems that a quick action needs to be taken.

Enjoy the Travel to work in Jakarta

A man is enjoying morning view from the flyover

What do you feel when you are on the way driving or riding to the office? Are annoyed with the undisciplined angkot (read: small bus transports) drivers who ngetem (wait for passengers to get on their angkots) at any places they want although forbidden? or your hearts are often made beat much faster than normal when an ojek (read: motorcycle transport) or a bajaj exceeds you fro your left completely unexpectedly and very quickly. Or when your way is blocked by a Metro Mini that runs very slowly but unsteadily, it makes you feel irritated. Or bla bla bla, or bla bla bla. Don’t worry there are still a lot more nightmares there.

If all above is what usually happens to you, the travel to work is a complete hell then. But isn’t there heaven in the streets? Thank God the answer to it is “yes”! As a modern city–some people may disagree–Jakarta has a lot of flyovers, and, believe it or not, they are often used by passers by, mostly those going to and from work, to spend some time staying there and enjoying the view down there. You can catch the sight of it every morning and afternoon before dark. But what kind of pleasure are they enjoying there? You won’t know if you don’t try. But take a look at the man in the picture. Don’t you agree he is having a very excellent time?

You don’t necessarily know the delicious taste of durian because you are very familiar with the smell of it. And you won’t know how it feel like to be broken hearted before you are there. If you want just to prove how good it feels to spend some time at the flyover, you just can try it.

But of course you have to be exceptionally careful because you will do something which is not at the right place. If you are not at the right time as well, will experience an absolute misery! Those who do that seem to ignore their own safety. So, I don’t recommend it, especially to those driving. Whatever the enjoyment, it isn’t worth the risk. You must try to seek another heaven in the street. Or may be you should try to enjoy the hell you already have had everyday. I don’t know…
